Simple Self-Care while feeling Depressed
Life can feel overwhelming sometimes. For many people, January can be one of the darkest months of the year. The excitement of the Holidays is over, it’s cold outside, and the pressure for a ‘New year, new me’ is high!
If you are struggling with a depressive episode and regular self-care feels too overwhelming, here are three quick self-care practices to help you get through.
Move Your Body
Let’s be honest, even when you aren’t feeling depressed, exercising can be overwhelming. Moving your body doesn’t have to be intense or fancy, but standing up and stretching for a minute can do wonders for how you feel physically and emotionally.
Clean Your Body
If you can, get up and take a shower. If that is too hard, focus on brushing your teeth or washing your face. You deserve to be taken care of, and keeping clean is an important part of taking care of yourself.
Feed Your Body
Everyone knows that eating is important, but sometimes it can be hard to manage everything else that comes with eating. Try to keep the time you will need to prepare food or clean up to a minimum. Grab an apple or a granola bar. If you can afford it, order your favourite meal.
