This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is being used online. The Lethbridge Pregnancy Care Centre (LPCC) provides this policy so that you are aware of our security practices and understand how your information is collected, used, protected, and otherwise handled. We also provide you with the opportunity to remove your name from our mailing list at any time.

Client Confidentiality

Personal information will not be collected beyond what is necessary to provide the services of the LPCC. The information collected will not be used for any purpose other than the particular purposes for which the information was collected. Personal information will not be collected, shared, or disclosed by the LPCC without the expressed consent of the client. A copy of all information collected regarding the client may be obtained by the client upon written request. The LPCC will hold in strict confidence all information provided to them, unless otherwise legally bound to inform authorities.

Information We Collect

We do not collect personal information simply from your visiting our site. We collect information from you when you:

  • Request information or materials from our organization
  • Subscribe to our newsletter, fill out a form, or otherwise enter information on our site
  • Make an online donation

The online information we collect includes name, address, city, province, postal code, telephone number, and email address. In the case of online giving, this also includes credit card number and expiration date. In order to continuously improve our service and tailor our communications to you, we may also ask you to provide information regarding your demographics, comments, professional interests, and contact preferences.

How We Use Your Information

The LPCC uses your information to understand your needs with the aim of providing you better service, and to respond to your requests. We may use your information to complete a transaction or to issue an income tax receipt for a donation. If you wish, we may also use this information to update you on the projects and activities of the organization.

Credit card numbers are used only for donation or payment processing and are not retained for any other purpose.

No Sharing of Personal Information

The LPCC never sells, rents, leases, trades, or exchanges your personal information with other organizations. We assure you that the identity of all who contact us through this website will be kept confidential. Use of personal information is limited to the internal purposes of the LPCC and only to further the activities and purposes of the LPCC.

Fair Information Practices

The Fair Information Practice Principles form the backbone of privacy law, and the concepts they include have played a significant role in the development of data protection laws around the globe. Understanding these principles and how they should be implemented is critical to complying with the various privacy laws that protect personal information.

In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices, should a data breach occur we will notify affected users by email within one business day.

We also agree to the Individual Redress Principle, which requires that individuals have a right to pursue legally enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also that individuals have recourse to courts or government agencies to investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.
